Our aim is to produce the best quality jewellery pieces at a modest cost, and we spend time and effort searching constantly for even better components. We use sterling silver, semi-precious stones, genuine European crystals and some cultured pearls, but mostly imitation – or “faux” – pearls to sustain consistancy of size and shape, and when describing details of designs, will be referring to those with the term “pearls” and “cultured pearls” as appropriate. The “amber” beads are not the true fossil material, but a much more modern resin. However, we consider that they are of excellent colour and quality and a nice addition to the range. We can get the real thing, however, and we will be happy to quote you for making things from any precious or semi-precious materials.

Our gold

Since producing these illustrations we have started to import some superb 14ct gold filled – also called gold overlay – chain from America. The British equivalent quality, rolled gold, is difficult to find and jewellery parts available in it are few and far between. While the more commonly known and available gold plate is a very thin deposit of gold, electroplated or electrochemically applied to the chain or other component (1/1,000th to 1/1,000,000th of an inch thick), gold fill is a seamless tube of carat gold surrounding a core of less costly metal. The surface gold layer must be at least 1/20th of the total weight of the item. The result is a quality – in this case 14ct gold – chain or component, the centre of which will never matter.

The ‘crossover’ chain designs in the catalogue were photographed using Curb chain, and we now use Cable. Also, we have introduced the classical Figaro design in our long chain pieces and will be introducing more chain designs in the future. We will continue to add gold filled smaller components as we find sources for them.

Earrings, etc.

The catalogue does not include many earrings, bracelets, or even any anklets. However, these are all available. We are unusual –if not unique – in offering a very personal service by making to specification. Both earring styles and type of clips are quite diverse, so rather than keep stock in many styles we prefer to make them ‘to go‘.

Sizing

We do work to standard measurements for necklaces and bracelets based upon 16 inches (406 mm) for a single string or for the shortest string in a multi-string necklace, and 7 1/4 inch (184 mm) for a ladies bracelet. Please check your own dimensions and if these lengths are not suitable we will make to any length you specify.

If on receipt, your piece is not all you wish for, we will refund your money providing you dispatch it by return of post, and in perfect condition.

Payment

All prices are in UK Pounds Sterling. We can accept payment by cheque, postal order or International Money Order, or through PayPal. There is a charge of £1.95 for postage and packing. If you require registered or insured post or an alternative carrier we will quote for this.
